OUR FURTHER CONCERNS,
according to statements in the reference book
"Birds on the Western Palearctic"

1./ During flight the bones of the arm and the carpus are not stretched above the body in the extent of that on the picture. For the same reason, the "curved" wing edges are also unnatural.

(10. picture)
2./ The curve of the quill-feathers always show very clearly if the wings are in up or down phase. In down phase, the tips of the quill-feathers are spread and curved upward due to the air friction. The two wings form an arc, and they are obviously in a dynamic movement. In up phase, the quill-feathers are relieved from the pressure, and get strait, their tips are slightly spread, and they do not bend forward as the ones on the picture.

(11. picture)
3./ During flight the outer feathers evenly cling to the body.

4./ During straight flight the body is kept in the best aerodynamic position; the backbone practically straight and horizontal. It is not "hanging".

5./ The Kingfisher's feathers evenly cover the body like a coat, there is no hiatus in the outer feathers.

6./ Open bills are unusual during straight flight.

7./ The orientation of the Kingfisher's head is always in line with the flight direction during swooping.

8./ The inner parts of the bills on the picture do not show the normal, healthy vivid color.

9./ The throat of the bird on the picture is unnaturally flat.

10./ The eyering that is a characteristic of a healthy bird (10-11. picture) is missing or dried out on the picture. (12. picture)
